Beginner Sewing
Students will learn the basics of sewing, which includes the following:
1. Setting up a sewing machine
2. Threading a machine
3. Choosing threads, needles, and fabric
4. Different stitches
5. How to sew on buttons
6. Sewing straight seams
7. Using patterns
Each participant will produce 3-4 finished projects to take home.
Class 1: Pot Holder/Dish Towel
Class 2: Pillow Case
Class 3: Microwavable Bowl
Class 4: TBD
Students will need to bring their own sewing machines w/ foot pedal and the bag of supplies that came with it. Must be 16 or older!
Some machines will be available to rent for the day: $30 or $10/hour
Optional purchase of supplies:
1. Scissors
2. Seam ripper
3. Thread
4. Buttons
5. straight pins
6. Machine Needles
7. Fabric scraps
8. Fabric/material for each project
